The story behind "Flamingo"

Okay...long story short.  Tim and I are developing an Anime storyline dealing with creatures with wings.  See our lead character "Machia".  I didn't know if I could draw feathers.  Boy...did I find out I COULD draw feathers!  And damned good too!  I had no clue.  This piece was actually a test.  After drawing the flamingo, I didn't know what to do for a background.  So I drew what surrounds me...palm leaves.  This web picture does NOT do this piece justice.  It's amazing even to me that I did it!  Rendered entirely in colored pencil.
